UPL Doing Things Better: Crop protection and Farmers’ Safety
Although I always live in the city whenever I visit my relatives in Nueva Viscaya or Bulacan, I always look forward to tour around the farm. Nature always fascinates me with its beauty from its lush and green surrounding to the process of harvest. My cousins always encourage me to plant fruits but I never got around to do so because life in the metro was always on a rush.
School and the media made me believe that using organic fertilizer is the best option for having healthy crops. Using chemical alternatives was perceived as having a negative side effect. As a student who took planting in elementary school I firmly grasp on that idea.
On May 11 at Holiday Inn, UPL being the 10th agrochemical company in the world invited the media including bloggers like me to change the stigma on chemical solutions and introduce a safer way to protect crop and farmers as One of UPL’s core value is to do things better.
One of the stigmas of using synthetic chemicals such as insecticide, fungicide, herbicide, molluscicide, bactericide and rodenticide is that it changes the growth of the crops.UPL taught us that using such chemicals cannot alter the genetic engineering of the crops. UPL also gave us a brief discussion on how much is the recommended product to be used to yield result. Using organic products can not cover other issues that our farmers face. There are so much demand for fresh products that needs to be given attention. Good thing UPL is present around 128 countries and their products can now be bought thru authorized dealers.
Agrochemicals focuses on protecting crops from pests and increase crop yields. UPL achieves their commitment by enhancing manufacturing and supply chain efficiencies.
