SM CITY BALIWAG TREAT BULAKENYOS TO A 6 FEET ENSAYMADA
One of the oldest bakeries in Bulacan recently created a 6 feet tall ensaymada during the Bulacan Art Festival at SM City Baliwag. With a combination of 2500 pieces of ensaymada, the gigantic pastry is made with 150 pieces salted egg, 470 grams cheese, 15 kg sugar, 5kg egg yolk, and 100 kg flour.
Ensaymada also known as ensaimada de Mallorca to its origin country Spain have gone through a series of colorful journey, which paved its way to the Philippine shores. As time went by, our bakers embraced it to become more Filipino in taste.
To introduce the heritage recipe among youth, a fun workshop on ensaymada making was conducted for young students of selected schools in Baliwag. Ms. Malene Carpio Miranda, the owner of Baliwag’s homegrown brand Baker’s Have It and a graduate of Fundamentals in Baking and Pastry Arts, Bread and Pastry Production NCII at International School for Culinary Arts and Hotel Management facilitated the said workshop.
Mallgoers are ecstatic as everyone-almost 2,500 people get to taste ensaymadas for free.
“Bulacan Art Fest is SM’s contribution to the province’s tourism by way of highlighting the best of Bulacan. And as we approach to the middle of our countdown before Christmas, we hope this celebration would entice people’s awareness of the province’s good tourism spot and unique offers for the Holidays” says SM City Baliwag Mall Manager Andrew Cristobal.
